Singer
/ songwriter James Taylor has begun work on his first studio album
since "October Road" , 2002 final version for Columbia long . "I have four or five things began nearing completion , " the artist told Billboard . "Maybe I'll have something ready in March, but I would not promise that . "
Next
month, the winner of the 1998 Billboard Century Award will embark on
their tour One Man Band , a departure from its traditional summer exits
full band . " Larry Golding will play keyboards with me , at least initially , " he says. "Let's play nice small theaters , houses of around 3000 , we will in
the first half of March , the first of April, the first half of May ,
and beyond that we'll see . "
"It has been several years since I worked alone, " Taylor continues. " That's all I used to do , and that's how I started. So it's nice to come back to from time to time . "
Currently, Taylor has not been himself affiliated with a new record label . "We
are in the state in which you can actually start working in your home
and enter the project without a big company to finance you, so it's
probably a good idea to do that , and that's how payment will work on it , on a project by project "reports .
As
previously reported , Taylor will be honored Feb. 6 for its
considerable musical and philanthropic contributions as the 2006
MusiCares Person of the Year . Among the artists who greet you at the event in Los Angeles , produced
by the Recording Academy , will be Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne ,
Dixie Chicks, Taj Mahal , Paul Simon , Alison Krauss and fellow winner
Randy Newman Century Award .
As a result of honor , Taylor jokes that he can not complain that it has not reached maturity. "I can not complain about anything ," he says . "It was such an important part of my life , complaining , I do not know what I do with my free time . "
